  • A study in front-and-back contradiction, this Prada skirt merges menswear tailoring with women’s dress—an expression of the house’s interpretation of historic notions of beauty for their Fall/Winter 2024 collection.

    Cut in classic Glen plaid wool—an archetypal suiting cloth—the front of the skirt reads like tailored men's trousers: a straight column with pressed vertical creases, and a neat turn-up hem that recalls trouser cuffs.

    At the back, and more evidently in movement, the silhouette opens into a mermaid shape with a fishtail hem, recalling earlier eras of women’s dress. Vents next to the fishtail reference vents in traditional suiting. The skirt is cut above ankle length for practicality.

    Suiting codes and historic skirt silhouettes are represented in this piece, spliced to create something functional and contemporary.
