For Prada’s Fall/Winter 1998, minimalist silhouettes were pushed into futuristic territory through sharp geometry. Certain pieces had linear seams split into peekaboo slit that were basted together with thread bars—details that work as part of the garment’s construction as much as embellishment.
This sleeveless dress in Shetland wool was one example. A shift dress in essence, its straightforward silhouette is disrupted by those split seams, revealing hints of skin underneath.
